Bodensee - Allgäu - Schwäbische Alb

Exkursion der Sekundarstufe II vom 10.10. bis 14.10.2011

Der Fachbereich Geographie bot im Schuljahr 20011/12 das erste Mal eine Studienfahrt für die Sekundarstufe II an. Ziel war es die Regionen Schwäbische Alb, Allgäu und Bodensee aus natur- und humangeographischer Sicht kennenzulernen

Programm der Exkursion:

1. Tag: Auf den Spuren eines Meteoriteneinschlags 

• Anreise und Stopp im Nördlinger Ries (Geotop „Steinbruch Aumühle“; Aussichtspunkt am nördlichen Kraterrand; Stadt Nördlingen).

2. Tag: Wirtschaftsregion Bodensee – „Hot Spot“ Europas

• Vormittag: Betriebsbesichtigung bei der Firma ifm electronics in Tettnang wo induktive, kapazitive und optoelektronische Sensoren hergestellt werden (Leitung: Herr Watzlawik)
  Vortrag zur Wirtschaftsregion durch Herrn Otte von der Wirtschafsförderung Bodenseekreis GmbH
• Nachmittag: Auffahrt zum Pfänder (1064 m) bei Bregenz (Österreich)

3. Tag: Die Adelegg – das dunkle Herz des Allgäu 

• Vormittag: Besuch des hinstorischen Glasmacherdorfers Schmidsfelden und der Glashütte (Leitung: Herr Dr. Thierer)
• Nachmittag: Individueller Stadtrundgang in Kempten

4. Tag: Von Ulm in die Schwäbische Alb

• Vormittag: Stadtrundgang in Ulm und Besuch des Ulmer Münsters (Leitung: Herr Dr. Birkenfeld)
• Nachmittag: Fahrt zur Karstquelle „Blautopf“ in Blaubeuren und Besuch der Laichinger Tiefenhöhle

5. Tag  Rückfahrt von Biberach nach Dresden

Geography Class Trip: October 10^th- 14^th 2011

As an exchange student, I had absolutely no idea what to expect on a class trip to Southern Germany. In my school in the United States we only had trips with clubs and sports. I only heard “trip” and knew that I wanted to come along. On the morning of the first day I stood outside in the rain and waited for the trip to begin, still not actually sure of what we would be doing for five days. It turns out what a Geography class trip entails is examining not only rocks, but also the history and culture of several  cities. I cannot say that I actually understood all of the information presented, but I do know that the highlights of the trip seemed to be our stop in the beautiful city of Ulm, our trip to a historic glassblower’s workshop, and the morning we spent touring the electronics firm IFM. IFM in particular was great because we were given a presentation and tour by a director of the company and treated to a delicious lunch in the cafeteria that included Italian ice cream. I felt like a VIP! Overall, I had a very good time on the trip. I got to know the other students a lot better and even managed to learn the game Mau Mau. Most importantly, for me, I came home with much better comprehension of Deutsch and more vocabulary to use. I am very glad I got to tag along!
